The initial warmth-trying to find missiles would simply position in direction of the focus on and chase it; this was inefficient. Newer missiles are smarter and make use of the gimballed seeker head coupled with what is called proportional assistance as a way to keep away from oscillation also to fly an efficient intercept route.
